Hop Farm Festival @ Hop Farm Family Park, nr Paddock Wood
6th July 2008

The Hop Farm Family Park near Paddock Wood is hosting the Hop Farm Festival, a one day open air festival with Neil Young, Primal Scream, Supergrass, Rufus Wainwright, The Guillemots and many other bands performing throughout the day. The gates open at 11am and the show is due to end by 11pm. It’s taking place on July 6th and tickets cost £49.50 each. Sleeping Beauty On Ice @ Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells
8th to 12th July 2008

Sleeping Beauty on Ice performed by the Imperial Ice Stars is coming to the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. Set to the glorious music of Tchaikosky and featuring a 24 strong cast of World, European and National Champion skaters the show will thrill and enchant audiences of all ages. It’s on from July 8th to 12th at 7.30pm each evening and matinee performances at 12pm on the 9th and 2.30pm from the 10th to the 12th. The Winters Tale @ Leeds Castle, nr Maidstone
9th to 13th July 2008

At Leeds Castle near Maidstone, there will be seven performances of The Winters Tale by Shakespeares Globe Touring Company on their second successful UK tour. Performed on the Pavilion Lawn against the beautiful backdrop of the castle. There will be evening performances from July 10th to 13th plus matinées on the 9th, 12th and 13th. Kent County Show @ Kent County Showground, Detling
11th, 12th & 13th July 2008

At the Kent County Showground at Detling near Maidstone, the largest outdoor event in the county takes place each year, it’s the Kent County Show and this year they have a number of new attractions and displays being lined up to join the extensive list of events which take place each year. The show has something for everyone from Dancing JCBs to Military Bands, from Agricultural displays and livestock to the traditional mix of shopping trade-stands where you can buy anything from a car to a tractor, a conservatory to an overseas property or quality food to luxury clothing items. There will also be a large number of catering outlets that will be using local farm produce, once again supporting the Kent Farmers. The show is on July 11th, 12th and 13th admission is £17 for adults, £10 for senior citizens and £7.50 for children. Cirque Surreal @ Dunorlan Park, Tunbridge Wells

At Dunorlan Park in Tunbridge Wells, you can see Cirque Surreal. From the producers of the Chinese State Circus, Cirque Surreal is described as Europe’s largest new circus for the 21st Century. It’s a dynamic fusion of traditional circus skills, modern dance, drama and humour with the leading performance artistes from ten countries. Festival of Music & Fireworks @ Tonbridge Castle
11th, 12th & 13th July 2008

Tonbridge Castle are hosting their annual Festival of Music and Fireworks. There are three nights of varied entertainment starting with the Party On The Lawn Tribute Night as the World Of The Bee Gees and Madness tribute band Utter Madness perform with a stunning firework display finale on July 11th. That’s followed by Summer Nights featuring the greatest songs from classic rock ‘n roll shows including Grease, Dirty Dancing, Buddy, Fame, Blues Brothers, We Will Rock You and more. Six star performers from London’s West End, backed by a live seven-piece band will perform and the evening ends with a firework display on July 12th. The third and final festival night is titled Ronnie Scott’s On The Lawn, as the worlds most famous jazz club leaves its London home and comes to Tonbridge for this superb evening of big band & swing classics, covering the Rat Pack, Sinatra, Basie, Ellington and many more. With special guest stars, all backed by the Ronnie Scotts Big Band, once again the evening ends with a big fireworks finale. Wings, Wheels & Steam Day @ Groombridge Place Gardens & Enchanted Forest

Groombridge Place Gardens and Enchanted Forest are holding their Wings, Wheels And Steam Day. Visitors can see up to 400 classic and vintage cars, breathtaking aerobatic displays, steam engines and a wonderful piped band provides an action packed day. Two Gentlemen Of Verona @ Pantiles and Solomons
7th to 12th and 17th to 20th July 2008

The Pantiles Players are performing The Two Gentlemen Of Verona by William Shakespeare. They will be performing at the Pantiles Open Air Theatre from July 7th to 11th at 7.45pm and on July 12th at 6.30pm. The show will then transfer to Runcie Court at Solomons in Southborough where performances will take place from July 17th to 19th at 7.45pm and on July 20th at 3pm. Shire & Working Horse Show @ Museum Of Kent Life, nr Maidstone
19th & 20th July 2008

The Museum Of Kent Life at Cobtree near Maidstone will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the South Eastern Shire Horse Association with the biggest Shire & Working Horse Show in the county. See these magnificent horses, in their finest turnout, display their working and showing skills and compete for the Supreme Championship Cup. Have A Go Weekend @ Bewl Water nr Lamberhurst

Bewl Water near Lamberhurst is holding a Have A Go Weekend. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at sailing, canoeing, rowing and windsurfing. You need to bring your own towel, change of clothes and soft shoes. It’s taking place on July 26th & 27th there will be the standard access fee of £6 per vehicle into the Bewl Water Car Park and then additional charges per activity, including £5 for 30 minutes canoeing, £3 for 30 minutes sailing for adults and £1.50 for 30 minutes sailing for children. Rye Pottery Display @ Leeds Castle, nr Maidstone

Leeds Castle near Maidstone is holding a special month, during which Rye Pottery will be displayed in the castle. Several rooms will be enhanced with beautiful, historically inspired craft pottery from Rye Pottery, the antiques of the future. Access to this exhibition is included in the normal admission price. Jousting Tournaments @ Hever Castle

There are five good reasons to visit The Hop Farm Family Park near Paddock Wood over the Summer holiday period. To mark his 20th Anniversary, everyones favourite purple dinosaur Barney takes up residence for the summer season and is joined by some of his friends; Pingu, Angelina Ballerina, Fireman Sam and Bob the Builder. Each week from 26th July to 31st August, Barney and one of his friendly chums will star in their own sing-and-dance-along shows in the Big Top.
